Chattenden considers itself an Inclusive school and welcomes all children. It intends to support any child who faces challenges with their learning and social development in the very best way it can. This includes children with talents as well as challenges, in their learning; ‘Looked after Children’ (where the role of the parent is undertaken by the LEA or a Carer), as well as children from a range of cultural backgrounds. Learning Support Assistants are assigned to every class to help the teacher support pupils identified with particular learning needs.
Every pupil’s progress is regularly tracked and those with learning needs are specifically reviewed several times during each school year. Our Special Needs and Inclusion Co-ordinator monitors all aspects of support and liaises regularly with parents and external agencies.
