Computing

Everybody should learn to program a computer, because it teaches you how to think.” - Steve Jobs, former CEO and creator of Apple

At Chattenden Primary School, we want to model and educate pupils on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely. We understand the immense value technology plays not only in supporting the Computing and whole school curriculum but overall in the day-to-day life of our school.

We believe that technology can provide: enhanced collaborative learning opportunities; better engagements of pupils; easier access to rich content; support conceptual understanding of new concepts and can support the needs of all our pupils. That will enable them to reap the benefits of the online world, whilst being able to minimize risk to themselves and others.

Using fun, engaging and interactive software, we deliver the computing curriculum using the Purple Mash 2 Simple program. As a school, we follow the Purple Mash Computing Scheme of Work from Reception to Year 6. This scheme encompasses the 3 main elements of the primary computing curriculum: information technology, computer science and digital literacy.
