Geography

The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it's about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together.

In Geography, pupils learn the skills of understanding a locality and how and where people fit into its overall structure. Geography encourages children to learn through experience, particularly through practical activities and enquiry.

The geography curriculum at Chattenden is constructed and designed to inspire the children’s curiosity and fascination about the world around them and the people and cultures within it. It is designed encourage the pupils to develop a deep knowledge, understanding and appreciation of their local area and its place within the wider geographical context. We aim to equip children with the knowledge and understanding of the world, people, places and environment to enable children to extend their knowledge and understanding beyond both Chattenden and the United Kingdom.

We aim to ensure that the children increase their subject vocabulary; develop curiosity and develop their critical thinking skills - understanding that they have a role to play as a responsible global citizen.

Workshops, visits and trips help to enrich the learning journey and are a key to allow children to practise and further develop their skills and explore sources.
