Chattenden Primary School

Religious Education

Religious Education at Chattenden is based on the Medway Agreed Syllabus. Our RE curriculum provides children with the opportunity to gain an understanding of a variety of religions found both within the school and within the wider community. Through engaging activities, pupils are encouraged to develop their knowledge and understanding of these religions, as well as reflecting on their own morals and beliefs by responding to Ultimate Questions. Children’s’ subject knowledge and spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is fostered through a range of opportunities, such as reading and comparing extracts from religious texts, visiting local places of worship or inviting visitors into school. Our pupils are encouraged to share their own viewpoints with others in a safe and respectful environment.

RE is taught throughout the school, from Early Years to Year 6, with whole school assemblies also reflecting on key religious events throughout the year.
